Strut Clamps | Cherokee, 200, Dart & Giulietta
Improve your ride quality with High Performance Strut Camps. I got mine from MFC Offroad. The OEM plastic ones will get loose over time and start to produce an audible and honestly and annoying clunking sound. It's not that clap that makes the sound but it lets the shock hit the shock tower.
The last few months it started to drive me nuts. Every time I hit a speed bump, pull up into a driveway or gas station and during enthusiastic driving, there it was. A clunk that just wouldn't go away. I finally made the decision to get these and I absolutely love them.
This video is NOT sponsored.
Here is the link anyways:

If you just want to refresh the existing ones, because it's easier and a lot cheaper:

These will fit the Jeep Cherokee, Chrysler 200, Dodge Dart and the Alfa Romeo Giulietta. These are essentially the same cars underneath the shell.

So after pulling the engine earlier in the fall of 2023, work and school caught up with us and we never found time to get to work on getting the new-ish engine in. So we are finally pulling the old engine. And the saga of the missing 10mm socket with its 11mm friend comences. The engine has lost some power, leaks all over and stinks every time we drive. Good question. Im not sure what the part numbers are but they should be available at the dealer. WIX and Puralator manufactures these for Mopar. I’m sure you can go aftermarket as well if you don’t care for the blue. Or a quick call to your local dealer should get you the part number as well. I usually buy Mopar stuff online at a big discount.

    I bought a new Motive bleeder kit along with motive adapter that is advertised as compatible with Hyundai / Kia. I had mixed results. I just read the quick instructions on the box. ( No long detailed instructions paper included - you are supposed to print them from the Motive website & the FAQ's ) I skipped the dry test, where you connect the system, no fluid, & hold 13-15 psi pressure for ten minutes. and poured brake fluid into the Motive pump. I pumped and around 11 psi the adapter leaked fluid on my engine. NASTY. Of course, i picked the wrong size rubber o-ring adapter ( its not a spare they are different sizes).q I cleaned up. I then unscrewed the adapter, cleaned it , and screwed it back on, albeit tighter. Now the system holds pressure fine. Proceeded to bleed my brakes. Good. However, when I attempted to remove the motive adapter, it wouldn't turn. Tried & tried. Read on internet to double-check counterclockwise to remove . Waited for next day, my 250 lbs couldn't unscrew the adapter. Now im driving with the adapter still on but corked and encased in duct tape. Frustrating. I emailed Motive Support & they responded there is no procedure to remove an over tightened & wrong size rubber o ring. They pointed me to slip joint / Channel lock pliers .

Yes, DORMAN ALUMINUM....Chrysler should NEVER have chosen plastic for this piece. A plastic intake? Yeah okay no biggie but oil and coolant heat exchanger??? Always use metal. • @Turbo_Snail
      @Turbo_Snail Місяць тому

      That’s an excellent question. It’s too dry, tight, so it doesn’t let it snap in all the way at the end. What happens when you flip it up, it’s all plastic and it bends as it’s not “loose” enough. Instead of rotating, you’re actually bending the “stick”. Lubricating it, lets it reduce resistance, less flex and therefore it’ll reach that point where it needs to sit. It’s really hard for me to explain without any visual aid. It doesn’t always work. It’s really a bandaid because inevitably it’ll just fail. This usually gives it another 2, 3 or 4 years of operation before you have to ultimately replace it.

    I haven't noticed any oil leaks on my 2015 Durango Limited, but I have noticed over the last few months the oil temp is running about 30 degrees hotter than it used to. Used to run consistently from 180-195 degrees. Never went above 199, even in summer. Now I'm seeing regular temps in the 220-224 degree range. Water and trans temps are normal. 150k and no towing or hard driving... and it's not even very hot yet (I live in south Texas). Haven't changed anything... just regular oil changes as always. Was wondering if the increased temps could be related to some sort of failure with this oil cooler? Has anyone else noticed higher oil temps on their 3.6?

    • @Turbo_Snail
      @Turbo_Snail Місяць тому

      Hm. Better ask over on Facebook at PentastarV6Performance. You getting the oil changed at a shop? Did they actually use the correct oil or what you asked for? That doesn’t sound like an oil cooler failure to me. Hot oil means there is more friction where you don’t want it. Water can only cool so much. I doubt it’s a sensor failure either.

    Also, watch those release levers on the stands. If you are under the car and one of the levers gets touched accidently, that corner of the car is coming straight down. The design of these don't usually have a safety pin, which isn't great.

    • @Turbo_Snail
      @Turbo_Snail Місяць тому

      Actually when there is weight on it, it requires a lot of force to lift those levers. Almost impossible to do it. These are not like your grandfather stands that require a safety pin. If they are old, I would change them for new, non harbor freight ones.

  • @thepub245
    @thepub245 Місяць тому

    Its very risky to lift one corner of a car placing it on a jack stand (axle stand, if British or Irish), then lifting the other side to do the same.The weight can shift unexpectedly, causing a topple, especially if using one of those axle stand rubber toppers, which can slip or move under load. Always better to raise the car in the middle, under the engine, if you can, then carefully lower it onto the stands.

    • @Turbo_Snail
      @Turbo_Snail Місяць тому

      Even with my extra long low profile jack, I can’t reach under the engine on my car. Also there is no safe jacking point in the middle of the car. Every car has markings where to apply the jacks safely. Also it’s usually illustrated in the user manual. There are tons of TikTok’s where people break their car jacking it up in the wrong spot. I for one, have never seen a professional jack up a car on the side/middle. Most cars are usually front heavy and would pivot forward if you attempted to do that. Be safe out there.

      I don’t have that car anymore but I remember when I pulled out the unit, I was surprised that everything was sealed in. Now, my Chrysler 200 which is essentially the same car, has an access panel through the wheel well to change the bulb. The Cherokee was a bit newer than my 200. So maybe somewhere between 2016 and 2021 they may have decided that we could somehow afford a $1600 headlight assembly when the lightbulb burns out.

    I have another question for you and thanks again for answering my last one. Beneath the lower intake it was pretty dirty and i cleaned up those chambers with carb cleaner since you said i should be OK to do. Well in those chambers i believe I see valves in there. But im not really sure if thats what they are that just what i think they are. There is 2 per chamber which make 12 total since there's 6 chambers. They look like a skinny rod and the bottom sort of cones out to what a think is a flat disc shape underneath where i cant see and somewhere around the bottom there i would assume is a seal, idk. Anyways, all of them were in like a closed position except one on the back left side. And i could see down inside of somewhere im not sure. I couldn't really see because its to dark in there but it has me a little worried. One, should it be all open like that where i can see inside it and two i didnt realize it was open until after i had sprayed carb cleaner in all the chambers and wiped all the gunked up carbon out of there. So how bad is it that carb cleaner and old carbon gunk and whatever else, got in there. And if i change the oil and flush it out with a quart or two will that clean it out and should i pour oil down that chamber where the hole is by the valve to try to flush out whatever may of gotten down there. Sorry for the long comment and thanks for your help

    • @Turbo_Snail

      I wouldn’t pour anything down there. Those are your valves. You see 2, there are 2 more on the other side. Just fill good gas and use fuel injector cleaner regularly. It’ll clean up in a few thousand miles. Look at my videos, you see mine were dirty too when I ran regular discount gas. Because I run e85 they are probably cleaner. All I can recommend is use quality fuel from a reputable gas station and not a discount station.

      You can do that, or if your car has a yellow gas cap just run some e85 through your tank. Give it about 5-10 tank fulls and that’ll be squeaky clean. Carbon buildup is from cheap gas. Dorman doesn’t sell the whole unit. Only the way you see it there. There are other cheaper knock offs but it’s been proven over the last year that the cheap coolers break even quicker than the plastic one one.

    Great video thank you very much unfortunately I didn't find it until after ID paid a garage to do exactly to know how to reset or override the sensor that tells me the boot is open (which it definitely isn't ) as they have returned the car to me with that fault and because the car thinks the boot is open I can no longer put the roof down thank you

      oh man, that really blows. You would think they would know better. Try to get hands on the original pump that was in there or ask Mercedes directly, maybe it's possible, so you still do a correct swap.

    The MOST important part to remove is the intake part it the back of the intake . The square box has grommets that has no bolts to take out .

      I think mine does have a bolt on it. It's a pain to get to but I make it a point to put it back on. I know one day I'll just give up not throw it away like on all other pentestar engines.

      If I remember right there are 2. One for pressure and one for temperature. It doesn’t control it. It just measures it.

    Several videos.... However they have various sequence of events, some of which are perhaps not "best practice"... Ideal #1 Spray the bracket nut and battery terminals with "Easing Fluid of you Choice".... #2. Remove the small electrical plug/socket on the Negative/Chassis Ground, while its "mate" is still attached and firm. #3 Remove the bolt holding the Negative/Chassis Ground cable to the bracket attached to the battery NEG post. Move the cables away from the battery and hold them clear with string/rope/clip (whatever)..... #4 Remove the bolt holding Positive/Red cable to the bracket attached to the POS battery post. Move the cable away from the battery and hold clear as per what was done with the Negative cable. #5... Another spray of "Easing Fluid of you Choice" to the nut at the top of the rod on the "hold down bracket"... Try to undo the nut, if it moves at all, then reverse direction (tighten) slightly and respray, then try and undo again.. It can be reached from above with a long extension bar. Try forward and back and spray to ease the nut off... Note 1:: If the battery terminal bolts are tight it's easier to work them loose without the battery dancing around. Note 2:: With the battery disconnected and the cables out of the way there is far less chance of the long extension bar causing a short between vehicle body and POS battery terminal. Note 3:: With the cables secured out of the way it is easier to "jiggle/juggle" the battery out. Clean it all up. Run the nuts on the various bolts, wire brush and lubricant.... And: If you are reading this then you are a DIY mechanic... Another 10-15 + minutes is not the end of the world...

They were going to charge me until I mentioned that power train warranty is 60k miles. They are doing it this weekend for free. :)

      @torresx06 ah. That is thread locker. Very important so it doesn’t loosen over time. The blue one is the one to use. It’s removable. There is also red which can not be removed later on. Links should be all in the description.

      @Alhammadi-gy5jb nah. I’m pretty sure you won’t be able to exhaust these 50lb injectors. That’s a lot of fuel. Even with the SC. Talk to the people who sold you the SC or even better, the tuner who will adjust this for you.

    • @Turbo_Snail
      @Turbo_Snail 3 місяці тому

      Shouldn't be a problem. You going with Factory style injectors or aftermarket ones. My Corvette injectors didn't have that notch. So I had to hold it together and slowly seat it into place as there are no notches. Then I used the fuel rail to set them in place. Make sure you used assembly fluid or at least some oil to seat them. Inspect the o-ring and make sure they are not damaged.

    • @Turbo_Snail
      @Turbo_Snail 3 місяці тому

      Check the gasket. Make sure it’s not pinched. If it is, just get a new oil filter. It’ll come with a new gasket that goes in the orange cap. Maybe it’s not in the right place.
